Terms of Service
These Terms govern Searchlight, a service operated by Interesting Concepts LLC. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, accepting a team invitation, or using the paid service, you agree to these Terms. If you act for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it.
1. Eligibility and business use
Searchlight is intended for professional use by recruiters, recruiting firms, and related businesses. You must be at least 18 and legally capable of entering a contract.
2. The service
Searchlight organizes public hiring activity and source information into company-research signals, rankings, workflow tools, and research hypotheses to help recruiters decide where to focus business-development research. Features, sources, rankings, and coverage may change.
3. Signal disclaimer
A Searchlight signal is not proof that a company uses outside recruiters, intends to use an agency, will engage you, or will make a hire. Public information can change or be incomplete. Searchlight does not guarantee placements, introductions, responses, revenue, hiring outcomes, exclusivity, or buyer intent. You are responsible for verifying sources and deciding whether and how to contact a company.
4. Accounts
Provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and notify us of suspected unauthorized use. A solo plan is for one user and may not be shared. Team seats are for authorized members of the subscribing organization.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use Searchlight to violate law or others’ rights; send unlawful or deceptive communications; discriminate unlawfully in employment or recruiting; harass people; scrape, bulk-export, resell, sublicense, or republish the service or datasets except as expressly permitted; circumvent access, billing, seat, rate, or security controls; reverse engineer except where law permits; introduce malicious code; or use Searchlight to make prohibited automated employment decisions. You are responsible for your outreach and compliance with privacy, employment, anti-spam, telemarketing, and other laws that apply to you.
6. Recurring subscriptions
Paid self-service plans are recurring subscriptions. Unless checkout states otherwise, monthly subscriptions automatically renew each month until canceled. You authorize Searchlight and its payment processor to charge the associated payment method for recurring fees and applicable taxes. The price and billing frequency displayed at checkout control. We will provide legally required notices of material price or renewal changes. See the Subscription & Cancellation Policy.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel future renewal using the online billing-management method provided with your account or by emailing hello@getsearchlight.io. Unless law requires otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period and access continues through that period. Fees already charged are generally non-refundable and are not prorated, except where required by law or expressly stated at checkout.
8. Third-party services and sources
Searchlight relies on third-party infrastructure and links to public sources. Those services are governed by their own terms. We do not control third-party availability, accuracy, or policies.
9. Intellectual property
Searchlight software, design, scoring systems, branding, compilation, and original content are owned by Interesting Concepts LLC or its licensors. During an authorized subscription, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for internal business purposes. Public-source facts remain subject to the rights of their respective sources and owners.
10. Feedback
You may provide feedback voluntarily. You permit us to use feedback to improve Searchlight without compensation, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, fraud, abuse, nonpayment, security risk, unlawful use, or conduct threatening the service or other users. Where practical and appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEARCHLIGHT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE OR SOURCE DATA WILL BE ERROR-FREE, COMPLETE, OR UNINTERRUPTED. MANDATORY LEGAL RIGHTS ARE NOT EXCLUDED.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INTERESTING CONCEPTS LLC AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM SEARCHLIGHT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SEARCHLIGHT DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THESE LIMITATIONS DO NOT APPLY WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, a business using Searchlight will defend and indemnify Interesting Concepts LLC against third-party claims arising from that business’s unlawful use of Searchlight, outreach/recruiting conduct, or violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by Searchlight’s own unlawful conduct.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Delaware law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Subject to mandatory rights, disputes will be brought in state or federal courts located in Delaware, and the parties consent to those courts’ jurisdiction.
16. Changes; severability; entire agreement
We may update these Terms prospectively. Material changes will receive notice when required. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Subscription & Cancellation Policy form the agreement for self-service use unless a separate written agreement applies.
