Privacy Policy
Searchlight is a business research and workflow service operated by Interesting Concepts LLC (“Searchlight,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit getsearchlight.io, create or use an account, communicate with us, or receive a business marketing communication from us.
Information we collect
- Account and identity: name, business email, authentication information, company or recruiting-practice name, website, and account identifiers.
- Recruiting and workspace: recruiting specialty, geography, preferred industries, team size, seats, workflow preferences, saved/dismissed/contacted accounts, notes, and similar product inputs.
- Billing: plan, subscription status, Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, billing email, renewal dates, and transaction metadata. Stripe processes payment-card details; Searchlight does not intentionally store full card numbers.
- Communications: support, sample requests, feedback, replies, and opt-outs.
- Technical and usage: page path, referrer, browser/device information, timestamps, security logs, product events, IP-derived or pseudonymous identifiers, and browser local-storage data used for authentication, account drafts, preferences, and workflow state.
- B2B prospect data: professional information from public professional sources and business-data providers, such as name, work email, title, employer/recruiting practice, business geography, recruiting specialty, public source URL, and verification date. We do not intentionally use private consumer contact data for this purpose.
Sources
We obtain information directly from you; from your browser/device; from service providers supporting authentication, hosting, billing, email, and analytics; from public company and professional sources; and from business-data providers used to verify professional contact information.
How we use information
- Provide, personalize, secure, maintain, and improve Searchlight.
- Authenticate users, administer accounts and teams, and provide support.
- Process subscriptions, verify payment status, manage access, and maintain billing records.
- Generate and rank source-backed company research and workflow information.
- Measure performance, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect security.
- Send transactional communications and conduct relevant B2B marketing subject to applicable law and opt-out rights.
- Comply with law and enforce or defend legal rights.
Legal bases for EEA/UK processing
Where applicable, we process personal data to perform a contract, pursue legitimate interests such as operating and securing a B2B service and conducting proportionate B2B marketing, comply with legal obligations, or rely on consent where consent is required.
Disclosures and service providers
We may disclose information to vendors acting for us, including hosting/deployment, database/authentication, payments, email, analytics/security, and professional-contact verification providers; to advisers; to authorities when legally required; and in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. Infrastructure may include Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, and Google/Gmail.
Searchlight does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, including while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for security, support, accounting, disputes, and legal obligations. We may retain suppression records as long as needed to honor marketing opt-outs.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing and to appeal certain privacy-request decisions. You may opt out of marketing at any time. Submit requests to hello@getsearchlight.io with “Privacy Request” in the subject. We may verify your identity and authority. EEA/UK individuals may also complain to their local data-protection authority.
U.S. state privacy disclosures
Where an applicable state privacy law applies to Searchlight, eligible residents may exercise rights provided by that law, including applicable rights to know/access, correct, delete, portability, opt out of covered sale/sharing or targeted advertising, and non-discrimination. Searchlight does not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Searchlight does not use personal information for cross-site targeted advertising. Where technically available, our non-essential first-party analytics respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Essential authentication, security, and service functions may continue.
Security
We use safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport, authentication controls, database row-level access controls, restricted server-side credentials, and access controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
Searchlight is operated from the United States and may use providers in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Children
Searchlight is a business service for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to create an account.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy with an updated date and provide additional notice when required.
